NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. —A man who agreed to give a 77-year-old friend a ride to the VA clinic is accused of robbing him for his prescription drugs, according to sheriff's deputies.
Chris Washington, 38, and William Garner, 25, are charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery.
Deputies say the victim knew Washington and asked him for a ride because his own vehicle was broken down.
Deputies say Garner had a car, so he and Washington picked up the 77-year-old and the victim's son.

Navy associate chaplain accused of gang rape
Men Accused In Local Gang Rape
NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- An Navy religious program specialist is among three people accused in a local gang rape.
Two men have been arrested and a third is on the run.
The victim's husband said his wife is doing better but is not ready to talk about what happened.
Deputies said the victim put herself in a bad situation but couldn't predict and didn't deserve what happened to her next.
"(It's a) very graphic description, and I was horrified, because I knew two of the people very well," said one of the suspects' roommates, who did not wish to be identified.
Investigators interrogated the man about his roommate and the reported gang rape.
Police said the woman told them she went to the New Smyrna Beach area home to buy some drugs and three men attacked her, taking turns holding her down and raping her.
"I was just shocked," the roommate said. "How could they do this?"

For the second time in four months, a 4-year-old child has died after being struck by a vehicle driving on Volusia County's beaches.
A 2003 Dodge pickup truck rolled over Aiden Patrick of Daytona Beach a little after 3 p.m. Sunday on New Smyrna Beach, said Sgt. Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol. (The victim earlier was identified by authorities as "Aden Ball.")
Aiden was on the beach with his parents near Crawford Road when he ran toward the water and into the path of the red truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The front right tire ran over the boy.
Aiden did not have a pulse and was not breathing when emergency workers arrived, said Mark O'Keefe, a spokesman for the EVAC ambulance service. The child was pronounced dead at Bert Fish Medical Center.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement lawyer who killed himself at his New Smyrna Beach home in September had been having a yearlong affair with a co-worker, the secret got out, and both knew they were in trouble with the agency, according to a newly released state report.
Steve Brady, 58, was found dead in his home Sept. 22. Nearby was the body of his wife, Pamela Brady, 56.
Steve Brady had put a gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger, according to his autopsy report.
New Smyrna Beach police would not say what killed Pamela Brady. There were no signs of trauma to her body, and that investigation is continuing.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement released its internal-affairs report on Steve Brady on Wednesday night. The agency did not explain what happened at the Bradys' home or why the longtime husband and wife wound up dead.
But the report made clear that Brady had broken agency rules, as had his lover, Vicki Canter, 45, of Port Orange, an FDLE investigator working in Daytona Beach.
The agency launched its investigation Aug. 15, the day after Canter's husband, Douglas Canter, 48, returned home early from an out-of-state trip. He found Brady in his living room with his wife, who was wearing only a towel.
