Genesis 2:16-17
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the gardenthou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
They had the choice to do what they wanted to. There are many passages stating how all of us have the choice to follow or not. To do, or do not do, what was taught. There is nothing in the Bible that grants us the right to take that same right away from others. We will all answer for ourselves as to what choices we made, as well as why we made them.
John 1 12-1312 But as many as received him,Galatians 5:13to them gave he power to become
the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
13 You, my brothers, and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
Look up more on your own but while the Bible covers punishments, you cannot ignore the fact that people had the right to decide for themselves!
The Founding Fathers granted us the right to use our God-given right.

The Bill of Rights granted everyone the freedom of choice
Article the third... Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
All this means that what you believe is your choice and what others believe is their choice. Your faith does not have more power than anyone else. When you cheer seeing the rights of others taken away, you need to ask yourself if you would cheer if someone said you no longer had the right to worship according to your own choice? Would you want to see the doors of your church closed because a more powerful church did not follow the same doctrine as you choose to do? That is exactly what you are doing if you think you should have the right to take away from others that which you decide for yourself.
You are being unfair saying God is pro choice. God gives each of us his creations, the ability to live a life with choices. In the case you have brought up in the creation story God said “do not eat of the tree of life or you will die. Their choice was to disobey much like your parent telling you not to play on the railroad tracks.
ReplyDeleteAs a society member I am all for helping those who have been attacked by an oppressor and for those who may be up against a medical issue where a mother is endangered by the pregnancy. I feel though you are trying to paint a broad picture that a greater power agrees that you should have a choice to do what you want to do and that is not so on certain things. Perhaps on your choice of home to live in or what to have for breakfast, yes ok but not life and death.
God also said “do not kill” but you can disobey if you want to, it is your choice.
Are you saying that God gave all of us the free will to make our own choices? Then what's the problem? Would you want someone deciding for you what you should do? As for "kill" then why is it Ok to put someone to death on purpose? Why is it Ok to let people buy weapons of war, walk into a school and slaughter children, or walk into a grocery store and open fire because they are the wrong color? Anyway, at the end of your comment you said, "It's your choice." That is what is getting missed here. No one was forcing anyone to do anything. Now they are because some people decided they had the right to do it and everyone else should just deal with what they demand,
