FORT HOOD, Texas (KWTX) - A Fort Hood soldier and his military working dog shared the same hospital room after they were injured in Afghanistan, and a photo of the dog has gone viral.

The soldier, identified as Spc. Brown, and the dog, named Rocky, are assigned to Fort Hood’s 89th Military Police Brigade.

A photo of Rocky wearing a Purple Heart has received nearly 50,000 likes and has generated more than 5,000 comments on the brigade’s Facebook page.

“One of our Military Working Dogs, Rocky, and his handler were injured this week during operations in Afghanistan,” the post said.
