Fort Hood Army Veteran Got PTSD and Double Tragedy

For all the talk about this group and that group raising "awareness" you'd think someone would be there to support this Dad. Given the fact his 2 year old son died “extremely malnourished and dehydrated" someone should have helped. The veteran's wife died at the age of 22 and he has PTSD.

Where was his support from Fort Hood? What good did all the resilience training do? What good did the charities collecting all your money do? What good did all the Bills congress passed do? What will justice in this case look like?

George Ryan Murphy, arrested in the death of his 2-year-old son, had been medically retired from the Army, and friends said he was being treated for post-traumatic stress disorder.

Killeen police discovered the toddler, Colt Landon Murphy, dead in his home in the 4800 block of Castlewood Drive on Tuesday. According to an autopsy, the boy was “extremely malnourished and dehydrated and that caused his death.”

The 29-year-old father was arraigned on a charge of injury to a child with serious bodily injury and was booked into the Bell County Jail on $1 million bond Thursday evening.

When Colt was born Oct. 24, 2013, George Murphy was stationed with Fort Hood’s 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, according to birth records from Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.

His wife, Jennifer Murphy, died less than a year later, on Aug. 30, 2014, at the age of 22.
Jennifer Murphy died from diabetic complications, said family friend Frank J. Wright Jr. Wright, of Killeen, said he has known Jennifer Murphy’s family for more than 30 years and described George Murphy as a “lone wolf.”
