Davidson was considered to be at risk as he had a past of suicide attempts. His friends said he attempted suicide twice last month and that the military was providing him with counseling and medication to help with depression.
Monterey- Early Thursday morning, U.S. Air Force airman Erik Davidson was confirmed dead.
Two days before going missing on July 26, Davidson traveled to San Francisco with friends. He returned to Monterey the next day, without any mention of future travel plans.
The next day he disappeared from the Defense Language Institute.
“We are confident Erik is with his heavenly father,” his mother said on Thursday.
Davidson was last seen driving away from DLI in a rented, silver Hyundai Accent, with Nevada license plates 938AZL. It is unclear if the vehicle has been found, or if it helped locate Davidson.
The Air Force released little information about the investigation throughout the search. It did not comment about specific efforts that were underway to help find him.
