Fort Hood honored a military career spanning more than four decades Friday, in a retirement ceremony for Chief Warrant Officer 5 Jeanne Pace, former commander of the 1st Cavalry Division Band.

“I can’t believe that 43 years has passed. Some days seem like they’re months long, but overall, I will tell you that I was still enjoying myself,” she said.

Pace began her career in the Women’s Army Corps in 1972, and she witnessed many changes in the Army during her long tenure, specifically regarding to the roles of women.
