Professional wrestling is full of cliche “All-American” types, but TNA’s newest star is an actual American hero.
Chris Melendez served as a sergeant in the United States Army before losing his left leg at the age of 19 after an IED blast in Baghdad. Melendez, who received a Purple Heart for his service, was walking with the aid of a prosthetic limb 40 days after the accident, and never quit on his dream to become a wrestler.
