Heckman says doctors decided not to do surgery on the Marine to remove the bullet.
A reward has now been offered in the case of a Cherry Point Marine who was shot while driving down U.S. 70 early Wednesday morning.
Captain Joe Heckman with the Craven County Sheriff's Office says Corporal John Cooksey was heading west of U.S. 70 and driving home from Cherry Point with the window down when he heard a loud pop. The Marine told deputies he started feeling sick and pulled over at a gas station.
