Yesterday veterans across the nation were honored for their service. There was coverage of parades and events as well as reports on the issues veterans face everyday of the year. One day to honor them, yet for the other 364 days of the year they are still veterans.

There are veterans suffering but the most magnificent thing is, they are also doing great and wondrous things for the sake of other veterans.

Vietnam veterans are the majority of the VA claims, the claims backlog and the suicides happening all over the country. That's the bad news. The good news is, had it not been for them fighting for research into PTSD, nothing would have been available for any generation of combat veterans. They never gave up on us. They believed the American people would eventually do the right thing.

They fought battles during war but then when they came home the fought the most important battle of all. They fought for other veterans.

After spending over 30 years with them, they will be, as they always have been, heroes after war.
