Part of the debt Congress doesn't want to pay for

I have no tolerance left. The next time I hear one of the Tea Party folks saying they don't want to pay for this or that I'll tell them we don't want to pay for them because they are not doing their jobs. This is something they don't want to pay for since it is part of the debt.

An anonymous donor paid for this.

(CBS News) The most amazing story we saw Tuesday involves a courageous young U.S. Army sergeant severely wounded in Iraq and the incredible surgery that gave him arms back.

Not prosthetic arms, but two real human arms.

The operation on 26-year-old Sgt. Brendan Marrocco of New York was performed in December.

Some 633,000 veterans -- one out of every four of the 2.3 million who served in Iraq and Afghanistan -- have a service-connected disability, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

As for compensation, we've already read how a member of congress gets paid $174,000 a year. This is what a disabled veteran gets after risking their lives and ending up disabled because of it.

A veteran living alone gets $395 a month for 30%, $569 for 40%, 810% for 50%, $1,026 for 60%, $1,293 for 70%, 1,503 for 80%, 1,689 for 90% and $2,816 for 100%. Here's the catch if they have a spouse and if they are 100% they are looking at $2,973 a month.

From VoteVets
Last week, John Boehner said that Republicans were locked in an "epic battle" to keep the government shutdown going.

As a World War II veteran, I fought in six epic battles. I helped fight the Nazis in the North African seas, and took part in operations that liberated Italy and the South of France, from Germany.

The Tea Party Shutdown is not an epic battle -- it is bad governance.

Americans and veterans like me depend on our entire government being open.

I filmed a television ad with VoteVets, and it's on the air starting today. I hope you'll watch it and contribute to help keep it up.
