Man in flare gun case treated for PTSD

INVERNESS TOWNSHIP — An Adrian, Mich., man arrested in connection with charges that he threatened to use a flare gun on himself after a traffic stop is being treated for post traumatic stress disorder.
Charles David Loftis, 55, was arraigned in July on charges of resisting a police officer, operating while intoxicated and reckless use of a firearm — a 2-year felony. Loftis was stopped for suspicion of driving drunk.
A preliminary examination scheduled for Monday was postponed while Loftic receives residential treatment at a Veterans Administration hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich., prosecutors indicated.
