HOLLY, MI -- Gary Nagy of Flint was given a veteran's memorial service and burial Monday, Aug. 19, at a small outdoor chapel at the Great Lakes National Cemetery where about 25 people came to remember and celebrate his life.
Nagy, a homeless man by choice, was found dead near McKinley Middle School in Flint. Police have arrested a 20-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy in connection with the incident, charging them with murder and torture.
Nagy, who was 57 years old when he died, was cremated and interred at the cemetery.
In a speech of remembrance at the service, Nagy's daughter Felicia held back tears and said her father had a positive outlook on life.
"He always seemed to instantly become friends with everyone he met," she said. "I'm glad I got the chance to be his daughter."
