PTSD Documentary encourages talking

"War and PTSD" Post Traumatic Stress Disorder: a Documentary
PTSDDocumentary.com
We have already invested well over $50,000 into this important documentary project. We humbly ask you for help in assembling the remaining funds to fulfill editorial requirements and for the acquisition of some final interviews throughout the United States.

Our team consists of experienced documentary and news professionals, primarily former members of the U.S. military, with people representing each branch of the Armed Forces. Luckily, some of us do not suffer from the affliction of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), though some do, including our oldest writer and medical expert, who served on the ground, during the United States' success in Europe, which ended WW II.

Our strength is in our hands on experience; as professional Television producers with decades under our belts, and as fellow military veterans, fortunate to have a deep and personal understanding of the impact of PTSD.

Fortunately, most of the footage for this program is already recorded. The final acquisition and post production are a short hop to getting this documentary ON THE AIR. We are almost finished!

This is a fabulous idea. The best experts I've talked to and reported on have said "talk about it" and that includes Vietnam War Medal of Honor Hero Sammy Davis. I interviewed him last year and he said "talk about it." Therapists say talk about it. Families want you to talk about it. Not in details they can't handle but at least let them know you went through something and this is what is happening to you now. Talk to them and help them understand you so they will be able to help you instead of thinking you are pushing them away. Talk to your buddies because even though you may think they're fine, they are probably going through the same things.

Lets put it this way. Did you know that by 1978 there were 500,000 Vietnam veterans with PTSD? Did you know most service organizations helping veterans today were started by Vietnam Veterans? Did you know that every generation suffered the same way but under different titles?

When it comes to the population of this country, veterans are only 7%, so don't expect civilians to understand. Expect other veterans to because they do and they still have the same attitude of taking care of their "brothers and sisters" and their families.
