VALLEJO, Calif. — Residents in a quiet Vallejo neighborhood struggled with a wave of emotions Thursday following a fatal confrontation between best friends that left two dead and a suspect in custody after a police standoff.
Vallejo police received a report of shots fired and subjects down in a yard in the 300 block of Foulkstone Way in Vallejo's Glen Cove neighborhood at 6:09 p.m. early Wednesday evening
Upon arrival, officers found two victims with gunshot wounds.
Officers determined that the suspect was a neighbor to the two victims and was in a nearby residence, police said.
A Vallejo police hostage negotiator was able to make contact with the suspect, Martin Hohenegger, 65, of Vallejo.
About 45 minutes later, Hohenegger exited his house and surrendered to police officers without incident.
