Afghanistan wounded veteran Tim Poe on America's Got Talent

Update thanks to some readers.

Did Afghanistan Vet Tim Poe "play wounded" on America's Got Talent?

Last night Tim Poe's story made me cry.

He was wounded in Afghanistan and left with traumatic brain injury that causes him to stutter. As I listened to his story, I thought about the great courage he showed knowing that some small minded people would laugh at him. I thought about his attitude and how his smile was so warm no matter what he faced. Then he opened his mouth to sing. I cried harder but this time with joy!

  1. From Facebook: Timothy Poe is a liar. I was his Squad Leader in Afghanistan and the things he is claiming NEVER happened. He was sent back to the states because of issues which were completely unrelated to his time in Afghanistan. In the few weeks that he was there he never cleared buildings, he was never exposed to direct hostile fire, he never even left the base! Our unit had people who were legitimately wounded and one who lost his life. Poe's claims are a direct slap in their face! Sounds like authorities are investigating.

  3. Check out his news report. He is also on the disabled vets site and defenders of feedom.. Only lies are the ones people are telling on here.. Maybe you should investigate first.

  4. It is very interesting that the comment was posted twice and each time under anonymous. It is also very interesting the third one was also anonymous. His name is know but the rest are not.

He was at least brave enough to get up on stage while others hide behind anonymous! Want to be taken seriously, use your own name the way you did on the link you posted with almost the very same words you used here.

  5. STATEMENT FROM THE MINNESOTA NATIONAL GUARD
~~ Attributable to Lt. Col. Kevin Olson, Spokesman for the Minnesota National Guard ~~
Sgt. Timothy Michael Poe served in the Minnesota Army National Guard from Dec. 3, 2002 until May 26, 2011, and performed as a supply specialist.
His military records indicate that he served with the Minnesota National Guard in Kosovo from Oct. 10, 2007 until July 15, 2008, and was deployed to Afghanistan from July 28, 2009 to Aug. 30, 2009.
Sgt. Poe’s official military records do not indicate that he was injured by a grenade in combat while serving in Afghanistan in 2009, as he reports. The Minnesota National Guard can also confirm that he was not awarded the Purple Heart Medal for wounds sustained in combat.

  6. One month in theater. The state has weighed in that it didn't happen. 120 members in that unit, 119 know he is lying. 118 say he is lying. The 120th? He was KIA.

    Check out this link.

  7. Thank you for the heads up on this and very sorry I didn't want to believe it. It looks like you guys were right and I was wrong. I am a sucker for a sweet story like the one Poe told. I posted an update link on this post and a report from the news.
