Fort Bragg soldier dies in motorcycle crash

A Fort Bragg soldier who was learning to ride a motorcycle died over the weekend when he lost control on a rural road in Montgomery County.
Staff Sgt. Michael Beecher, 33, of Akron, Ohio, died from injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident near Troy, according to the 82nd Airborne Division. He is survived by a wife and four children.
State Highway Patrol Trooper Gary Beaman said Beecher appears to have entered a curve traveling too fast. His bike drifted left of the center line and struck a steel post holding a highway warning sign, Beaman said.
