Seabees close to cutting ribbon for new HQ building

Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit (CBMU) 202 Detachment Jacksonville will soon set a date to officially cut the ribbon for the new two-story headquarters facility at the Seabees’ Birmingham Avenue compound.
The project enabled the Seabees to consolidate office spaces – some dating back to World War II – that were scattered around the compound.
“Our 60 Seabees built this from the ground up, providing most of the skilled labor required for the sub-grade utilities, foundation, concrete block walls, steel [filtered word] and electrical systems,” said CWO4 Michael Baldwin, officer in charge of CBMU 202 Detachment Jacksonville. “The project began in June of 2009 and wrapped up this past December with the installation of our NMCI network.
