Parade Will Honor Vietnam Veterans

Veterans from the Vietnam War may not have gotten the welcome home they deserved 40 years ago, but veterans groups throughout Montgomery County believe that's a problem that can be corrected.
Organizers are planning a "welcome home" parade to honor Vietnam veterans for Saturday, March 31, beginning at 1 p.m. in downtown Litchfield.
"This is something that I feel is very overdue," Litchfield VFW commander and Montgomery County Veterans Assistance Commission chairman Ray Kellenberger told volunteers gathered at the Litchfield VFW hall Friday to plan the event. "This is a chance for our community and our county to get together to work on something that can be really special."
To accomplish that, organizers hope to see throngs of people gather along the parade route.
