SPEEDWELL, Tenn. (WVLT)--The mother of a Claiborne County Marine injured in Afghanistan is asking for your prayers. LCpl Cody Evans lost both of his legs and fractured his pelvis in an IED blast Thursday. His mom, Regina, told us he's got the will to get through what's sure to be a difficult recovery.
"He's just a strong willed young man. He's magnificent. He's fun-loving, and he loves to help people," she added.
Now, it's Evans who needs help. He's being treated at a German hospital for those injuries.
Regina's luggage is sitting in her foyer. Bags packed, she's ready to leave the house at a moment's notice to meet her son when he's flown to Maryland to recover.
"He'll be in hospital for quite some time, and then into the physical therapy part," she said.
But she's getting the support she needs while she waits. Yellow ribbons abound in the Speedwell community. An Evans family friend gave out hundreds of them, and people have been tacking them to doors and fences in a silent show of support for the marine on his long journey home.
