The mission for the troops in Iraq was to remove Saddam, remove the threat to the US and then it was to restore power to the people to secure and run their own country. Sure, the reasons Bush gave changed but men like Santorum didn't pay enough attention to what was going on to ask a single question, didn't ask for plans that worked and never managed to complain once about how the conditions were for our troops back then. How many years was he in full support of what was going on? Since the troops were sent in 2003 and all the time Bush was president. He squawks about Wall Street Bail out but forgets about the billions lost in Iraq that no one ever had to account for.
If all of this was not bad enough, the troops won in Iraq a long time ago and did everything they were sent to do. They paid a very high price so that people like Santorum can go on TV and say they lost. Who elected this man ready to put politics ahead of the troops risking their lives, carrying their wounds and families with someone missing from their home?
Santorum: We lost the war in Iraq
Republican presidential candidate and former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum spoke with Bob Schieffer on the U.S. troop withdrawal in Iraq and the possible threat of Iran's influence in the fragile nation after their departure. (Oct. 23) (CBS News)
