Man Admits Fraudulent Effort to Obtain MoH

For nearly 40 years, Terry Calandra worked to fabricate a version of his U.S. Army service in Vietnam that inflated his valor on the battlefield.
He enlisted the help of a U.S. senator, a congressman, a state representative and newspapers to lobby for more recognition.
On Tuesday, the former Forks Township, Pa., resident admitted that the record of heroism he held out as worthy of the United States' highest military honor was a web of lies backed by falsified documents.
The admission stunned and angered those in positions of power who had fought for years for Calandra to be recognized for what turned out to be false heroics.
