Goose Creek domestic call turns violent, authorities say
BY PAUL BOWERS and ANDY PARAS, The Post and Courier
Goose Creek — A city police officer was critically wounded Monday night while responding to a domestic disturbance call and other officers shot the gunman in an ensuing firefight, authorities said.
Two other people at the residence were injured at some point during the incident, which lasted only a few minutes.
Around 8:30 p.m., dispatchers received a report of a domestic disturbance at 111 Iris St., said Lt. Karen Nix, city police spokeswoman.
When the police officer arrived, she said, a man wielding a shotgun came out on the porch and fired several times. The officer was hit at least once, she said.
Other officers arrived at the scene and shots were exchanged with the gunman, she said.
