Bomb expert held after wife's car is blown up

'Battle trauma' of bomb expert held after wife's car is blown up
By Lucy Ballinger
The Army bomb disposal expert arrested on suspicion of blowing up his pregnant wife was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, it was claimed last night.
Nick Fabian, 32, described as a loner, was scarred by a two-year tour of Northern Ireland and service in Bosnia, friends said.
He snapped after he was recalled to the Army and told he was due to fly to Afghanistan next week. The prospect of 'facing his demons' triggered PTSD, they added.
He was being questioned on suspicion of the attempted murder of his heavily pregnant wife Vicky whose car exploded as she was about to drive off with her son Charlie, ten, on Friday.
Her other son, four-year-old Harry was unhurt. The 32-year-old nurse, who was recently accepted to join the Royal Army Medical Corps, was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries after the blast near the family home in Vigo, Kent.
