Soldier dies for health insurance in Afghanistan

Spc. Gregory J. Missman was killed in Afghansitan on July 8, 2009. He had already been in the military and went to work for a private company but was let go of. He was worried about health insurance for his family. With little prospect of finding a job, he re-enlisted to provide for his family. He was killed a month later. Does anyone want to add this to their side of the debate?

  1. If they dared to add it to their debate they damn well better be for health care reform! This kind of story makes me so angry at those that think it is some sort of government takeover and socialistic and pick your bs talking point! What they fail to realize that Gregory was taken because of the willingness and willful ignorance from those who imagine that their push for anti-health-care reform has no consequences!

People such as those on the "other" side of the fence do not realize that they have killed a man, a veteran, a hero.

  2. It really stuns me how some people refuse to use their brain and are so easily manipulated because they refuse to even think. As bad as it is for the veterans in other countries, at least they are medically taken care of because of national healthcare. They have to fight for benefits but not to have their wounds and illnesses treated. Here, they have to fight for everything. Do these people ever think of this? Do veterans ever enter into their mind at all? They say "no government run healthcare" but this comes from people already getting it, like Medicare and Medicaid and the VA and the congress getting great government healthcare. I wonder how many more re-enlisted for this same reason and died because of it?
