Police identified 43-year-old Derrick Curry as the man who stabbed himself to death after breaking into a home near the Pine Hills neighborhood this morning.
Curry confronted the homeowner of a house on 4449 Westgrove Way at 4 a.m after an argument with his ex-girlfriend, who lives next door, police reports show. Sgt. Barbara Jones of the Orlando Police Department said Curry attempted to stab the homeowner with a knife, but later turned the weapon on himself.
Rescue crews said Curry died at the scene.
"It appears that Curry had gotten into an argument with his ex-girlfriend about someone else who was now staying at her house," Jones said. "But right now, it's hard to tell exactly what happened."
Police reports show Curry has a history of domestic violence and has been taken into custody under the state's Baker Act in the past.
The homeowner was at the house with his family, including two elementary school-age children.

Man breaks into house and kills himself
There is a man dead, clearly he was ill because of this report but there is also a family simply living next door to this man's ex-girl friend, now left with this traumatic event in their minds. We all need to ask what could have been done in this man's life that would have avoided what just happened. Florida has a terrible record on mental health but it has been getting a little better. This shows we have a very long way to go.
