Obama dog arrives
Is he absolutely adorable? Sure. I'm glad the girls are happy and very happy for the family to have a dog. I have a 13 year old Golden Retriever and remember the happiness he brought to our home. The problem I'm having right now is not with the Obama family or the fact Senator Kennedy gave President Obama Bo as a gift instead of getting a shelter dog. What I have a problem with is the media itself. How can it be that this dog has received so much more attention from CNN and the rest of the media than wounded troops and veterans have been receiving all these years? How is this possible?
They come from every state in the nation. From cities and towns across the land. From Republican households and Democratic households and households with no political affiliation at all, serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, risking their lives for what they were asked to do, but no one seems to think they important enough to cover their stories on CNN, MSNBC, FOX, or any of the other national stations. You may find a story here and there from your local news station, but national, well it's almost as if the nation was not involved in two active military campaigns. It's not as if either one has stopped producing dead and wounded troops, nor are they likely to end anytime soon. We don't hear about their heroism or their hardships. We don't hear about their families and what they are going through. We certainly don't hear about them when they become veterans. Yet all of the stories covered on this blog are ignored by the broadcast media stations. The very stations most of the people turn to in order to know what's going on are oblivious to everything involving the people we depended on for everything we enjoy.
So please tell me how it is that President Obama getting a dog means so much news coverage it's on every station but the wounded troops and veterans are hardly ever mentioned at all?
