The top administrator at the Iowa Veterans Home is being forced out amid disclosures that a new policy at the home cut physician staffing while greatly increasing the pay of a few doctors.
“I appreciate the service Dan Steen has given to the State of Iowa as commandant of the Iowa Veterans Home,” Gov. Chet Culver said in a statement released to The Des Moines Register today. “We are grateful for his work leading our state’s facility to care for those who have served our nation.”
