For disabled Orlando architect Paul Zelones, 'God was pushing his pencil'

Paul Gerard Zelones saw the hand of God in his work.
The Orlando architect, who died Friday at age 80, designed many clinics, homes and other buildings in Central Florida, but it was churches that gave him the most joy. It seemed natural that Zelones, a devout Catholic, would design houses of worship for the Orlando Diocese.
His work can be seen in parishes all over Central Florida: at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Orlando, his first, and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Clermont, his last. And many others in between, including Ascension Catholic Church in Melbourne, Our Lady of the Lakes in Deltona, St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Bushnell, Our Lady of Grace in Palm Bay and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wildwood.
His designs were all the more inspiring, given that many were done after he was left mostly paralyzed and able to use only one hand.
