Veteran's open letter to Senator Levin

Received from email

Dear sir ( to senator Levin)

I am sorry to report that I did not vote for you because you see you did nothing to help me. When I ask for help you turned the other cheek because I am not a rich Republican/democrat nor do I have either oak leaves, eagles or stars on my collar. Senator you forgot that it was I who was fighting for freedom in a far off land so you would have the ability to campaign for office in safety.

Senator while you were standing in line to receive your piece of paper to hang on the wall I was standing in line to get a piece of paper that would afford me the promise of standing line to receive my sheep skin. Senator while you were working on making your first million I was working on paying the rent with my minimum wage job because you see Senator I never got that piece of paper that would have allowed me to go to school and get an education.

When I came to you crying for help because my ailing body had given out you ignored my cries for help. Senator now that you are crying for help I am doing to you what you did to me I am ignoring you. Had you not ignored my and my fellow veterans cries for help we might have been more inclined to respond to your cry for help. In closing senator may I say that with my poor hearing as a result of my military service I am unable to hear your cries for help so I suggest that the next time someone asks you for help that you listen. I look forward to seeing you in the unemployment line next spring senator next to the vet's who cried for help that you turned down.

Sincerely,

Gordon Sutton
a disabled veteran
