McCain's problem in Florida is his record

For the first time since McCain ran in an election, he is forced to answer for his record but has avoided it completely. While most Americans talk about his connection to lobbyists, his support of removing regulations leading us to where we are financially, above all his record shows in support of Bush's policies, is the fact he does not support veterans. While some are shocked at how bad his record is, the word is finally reaching many across Florida and the nation. Before this, he managed to get away with deluding the voters of Arizona because they were the only ones who could hold him accountable. Now he has the entire nation asking him to account for his betrayal of them.

McCain's campaign can scratch their heads all they want to figure out why it is so bad for McCain in the polls but they have only is record to blame for the bulk of his problems. They cannot undo his votes, cover them up or excuse them.

Florida GOP meets in secret as Obama passes McCain in polls

TALLAHASSEE — Florida Republican leaders hastily convened a top secret meeting this week to grapple with Sen. John McCain's sagging performance in this must-win state.

Their fears were confirmed Wednesday when four new polls showed Sen. Barack Obama leading, a reversal from just a few weeks ago when McCain was opening up an advantage.

The polls come amid a cascade of bad news about the economy, an issue that McCain has struggled with in recent days.

What's more, a rolling average of Florida polls shows Obama ahead, albeit barely, for the first time.

• Quinnipiac: Obama leads 51-43.

• InsiderAdvantage/Poll Position: Obama leads 49-46.

• CNN/Time magazine: Obama leads 51-47.

• Suffolk University showed Obama leading 46-42.

• Real Clear Politics average of all Florida polls: Obama up by 3 percentage points.
