ORANGE COUNTY - Friends and family of a slain University of Central Florida graduate student are hosting a dodgeball tournament to raise money for those who need mental-health services. The tournament, which is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, is in honor of Nicole Ganguzza, who was found slain June 11 at Jay Blanchard Park on a popular exercise trail. Ganguzza, 26, was an avid runner. The killing remains unsolved.
The Nicole P. Ganguzza Foundation was started by friends and family members to help people pay for counseling who cannot afford it. Ganguzza was studying for a master's degree in family counseling. The tournament will take place at Orlando Baptist Church, 500 S. Semoran Blvd. Registration is $50 per five-person team, and all proceeds go to the foundation. About 40 teams have signed up so far. The registration deadline is Thursday. Call 407-277-8671 or go to www.fuseorlando.org/dodgeball for more information.
