Angry and frustrated, a Lady Lake man tried a different approach with his daughter when she threatened suicide again."Go ahead and do it," he told the 15-year-old, according to a Lady Lake police report that led prosecutors to charge the 43-year-old janitor with child abuse. The report says he laid a belt near the girl and offered to help her try. Her grandmother found the girl with the belt around her neck and, the teen confided the incident to a counselor at LifeStream Behavioral Center in Leesburg. "Abuse can be mental as well as physical," Assistant State Attorney Bill Gladson said. "Parents aren't supposed to turn their backs on their children."
