Michael Coker, of Ocala, was named to the board of the new Florida Veterans Foundation Inc., the Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs announced Tuesday.
The foundation, established July 1 by Florida statute, is a tax-exempt public organization dedicated to supporting the state's Department of Veterans' Affairs and to providing assistance and services to Florida's veterans and their families. The foundation will be supported by entrepreneurial initiatives, agreement with participating businesses, and contributions from veterans, and corporations. The nine-member board of directors was selected by LeRoy Collins Jr., the executive director of the Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs.
Retired Lt. Gen. Robert Milligan, U.S. Marine Corps of Tallahassee, is board chairman. The board's first meeting will be Wednesday in Tallahassee.
