July 10, 2008 06:14 EDT
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) -- AFL-CIO President John Sweeney is coming to Dayton to announce that a council of military veteran union members is being formed in Ohio to speak out on issues in the presidential campaign.
Sweeney is making the announcement at a Thursday rally. He says the council will be the first formed at the state level as part of a national effort. Similar councils are being organized in a handful of other states.
Wes Wells heads the Dayton-Miami Valley AFL-CIO and says the council will bring together union veterans from around Ohio to work on electing leaders who will put the concerns of working people first.
