War veterans have many issues to deal with, perhaps none as prevalent as post traumatic stress disorder. it is an anxiety disorder that develops with exposure to highly traumatic situations, such as battlefield combat and war.
Shane Ransom didn't have to go to Iraq...but he extended his duty to do so. He said he couldn't let his fellow soldiers go over alone.
After leaving the military in 2004, his experiences fighting in Iraq, facing fire every day, never left him -- leading him down a path to an all-time low in 2006.
He shot himself in the head.
He blames PTSD, and says he still deals with it to this day. He has vivid flashbacks, goes for a weapon when storms come in, swerves to avoid boxes in the road because he thinks it could be a bomb -- and generally suffers from it.
Ransom doesn't regret his service, and his wife -- also a vet -- is a big part of that. But he knows he will be on medication the rest of his life. Click the video to see his whole story.
