CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. -- A young Marine Corps couple who packed their things and disappeared two weeks ago, leaving behind their uniforms in their North County home, surrendered to military authorities Monday, officials said.
Pfc. George Reid II, 22, and his wife, Lance Cpl. Margaret McMahon-Reid, 20, surrendered in Greensboro North Carolina and were flown back to their bases -- Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and Camp Pendleton, respectively, said Mike Alvarez, a spokesman for I Marine Expeditionary Force.
The couple, who have been married for less than a year and lived in an Escondido apartment prior to their disappearance, were put on unauthorized-absence status by their commands on April 1.
