FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The father cited by Cumberland County officials for keeping his son’s dogs while his son serves in Iraq is catching a break.
The Fayetteville Observer reported Friday that the county Board of Adjustment voted to postpone Henry Carroll’s case. It’s unclear when or if the case will be heard.
Carroll was cited by a zoning officer in March for having too many dogs on his property. Carroll already had three dogs when he took in his son’s two.
County rules consider four dogs a kennel.
County planning and inspections director Tom Lloyd said the kennel ordinance will be reviewed. Lloyd said he would consider proposing changes to allow Carroll and others like him to temporarily shelter more than three dogs.
Carroll’s 22-year-old son, Adam, is serving in Iraq with the Fort Campbell, Ky.-based 101st Airborne Division.
